Part of Social work legislation

Welfare Reform Act 2009

The Act made major changes to the UK’s social security system.

Its aim was to help more people move into work and to simplify how benefits are delivered.

It also created rules allowing the government to require claimants to carry out certain activities in return for receiving benefits.

In addition, it introduced measures giving disabled people more control over the support and services they receive, so these could better match their individual needs.
