Part of Social work legislation

Carers (Scotland) Act 2016

The Act recognises the essential contribution of unpaid carers and aims to ensure they can access the support they need.

It introduces adult carer support plans and young carer statements, requires targeted support to be provided, and gives carers a stronger voice in how certain services are delivered.

It also requires local authorities to prepare carer strategies and to provide information and advice services so carers can get help more easily.
