Part of Social work legislation

Equality Act 2010

The Act brings all previous equality laws into one place, making them easier to understand and apply.

It requires all organisations — public, private, and voluntary — to treat people fairly and not discriminate against employees or service users because of certain protected characteristics.

There are 9 of these characteristics, and anyone who has one of them, or is connected to someone who does, is protected from unfair treatment.
