Part of Social work legislation

Foster Children (Scotland) Act 1984

The Act brings together several laws about fostering children in Scotland.

It explains what parents, foster carers and local authorities must do to keep children in foster care safe. It also covers how children can be removed from unsafe homes.

In addition, it gives local authorities the power to inspect foster homes and set rules about the accommodation and care provided.
