Part of Social work legislation

Children (Scotland) Act 2020

The Act strengthens the legal framework that protects children and improves their overall welfare.

It updates earlier legislation in areas such as advocacy, parental responsibilities and rights, children’s participation in decisions, and the rules around contact orders.

A central aim of the Act is to ensure that children’s views are heard and that they are meaningfully involved in decisions that affect their lives.
