Commissioner for Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2003

The Act creates the role of Commissioner for Children and Young People in Scotland and explains what the Commissioner must do.

The Commissioner’s main job is to promote and protect the rights of children and young people up to age 18, or up to 21 if they have been in care.

The Commissioner is fully independent from the Government but must report to the Scottish Parliament.
