Part of Island Communities Impact Assessment

Section 5 – Is a full Island Communities Impact Assessment required?

Are there mitigations in place for the impacts identified and noted above from stakeholders and community consultations?

No additional mitigations are required.

The NSWA policy objectives are:

  • support and invest in the social work profession by providing national leadership
  • overseeing and supporting social work education (pre and post-qualifying) improvement
  • workforce planning
  • training and development
  • implementation support

The results of this will be to improve consistency, facilitate workforce planning and scale up good practice.

The NSWA will affect the whole social work workforce, enabling social workers to work with people to transform their lives and implement rights-based practice. It will positively affect the whole social work workforce irrespective of the region they work in, offering a body with oversight of social work for the first time. This could be of particular benefit to island and rural communities, by considering demand and shortfalls and factoring these into workforce planning.

Does the evidence show different circumstances or different expectations or needs, or different experiences or outcomes (such as levels of satisfaction, or different rates of participation)?

No.

Are these different effects likely?

Not applicable.

Are these effects significantly different?

Could the effect amount to a disadvantage for an island community compared to the mainland or between island groups?
