Further assessment and recommendations
The Fairer Scotland Duty places a legal responsibility on named public bodies in Scotland to actively consider how they can reduce inequalities of outcome caused by socio-economic disadvantage, when making strategic decisions.
As an executive agency of the Scottish Government, the NSWA will strive to embed equality and inclusion at the heart of its activity. As outlined in this assessment – along with evidence demonstrated in our accompanying impact assessments – we will promote this ideology within the profession and champion strong social work values. We will seek to reduce social and socio-economic barriers, challenging oppressive ideologies, and empowering people to achieve their best outcomes.
Over time, we will publish a report setting out the ways in which we are meeting the Fairer Scotland Duty and outlining strategies for continual improvement in doing so.
